Why "Cardinal Organizing"?

When I launched my business, I worked endlessly on the questions I would ask my potential clients and prepared answers to all of the questions I thought they could possible ask of me. After months of preparation, I landed my first client and the first question she asked was, "Why did you choose the name, 'Cardinal Organizing'?" I was surprised. I hadn't rehearsed my answer, but luckily I had put a lot of thought into it, and happily launched into a monologue. Neither of us was expecting how long it would last.

I could have recorded my epic monologue, but since a core value of my business is simplicity, I de-cluttered it down to three points.

The word. The definition of the word "cardinal" itself means fundamental. Most people become easily overwhelmed with clutter and disorganization, and my goal is to help my client find the starting point and get back to basics of organization.

The bird. It's a very beautiful and recognizable bird, and you don't need to be an avid bird-watcher with high-powered binoculars to find it. Here on the east coast they stay around all year. They bring a bright spot of life on the dreariest of winter days.

The symbolism. The cardinal's brilliant red feathers symbolize hope, love, energy and renewal. The appearance of a cardinal may be a reminder to stay strong and re-ignite our inner flames.

The desire to organizing your space indicates that you are ready to get back to basics, overcome the shadow of excess and disorganization, and renew your energy and the energy that surrounds you. That is Cardinal Organizing.

Creating space for things that truly matter.
